Should i start using a tampon?!?!?

I'm not sure if i should use a tampon. I'm 12 and this next period will be my 3d and im not sure if its heavy i wear panty liners and its filled bye 2-3 hours so whhat tampon should i use and is that a heavy period. Also how much blood should be on there when i change my pad?
