Beer brewing kit at Sears! Do i have to be 21 to buy?

So my boyfriend's birthday is coming up, i'm 20, and hes 21, and i wanted to buy him this at home beer brewing kit that is at Sears! I know he would absolutely love it. Will i be able to buy it? Its not beer, unless you make it...does that count? Just wanted to know before i go in, and look like a dumbass when they card me.
