Fred Dibnar the Steeplejack?

Many years ago Fred Dibnar the steeplejack, made some very entertaining prgrammes, he would climb up a never ending chimney, or church spire,... now what i would like to know is there must have been someboby else to do the filming, that person was never seen on camera, Surly Fred could not have done the filming ? So was another person involved, the filming could not have been done with long range camera's,, so could someone enlighten me.... Ta
